Investigators with Surrey RCMP's Robbery Unit released details this week of the assault and robbery of a senior at a South Surrey ATM in March.
And they are asking the public for help identifying a man sought in connection with the attack.
According to the appeal – issued Friday afternoon – the brazen incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. March 22, in the lobby of a financial institution in the 3000-block of 152 Street.
The victim, a 65-year-old South Surrey woman, had just finished using the ATM when she was struck in the chest multiple times and robbed of her cash.
Police said information was not released at the time as the incident did not raise concern for public safety – it is believed to have been a crime of opportunity.
The victim suffered minor injuries.
The suspect is described as a slim, five-foot-eight black male, with short, curly black hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, grey sweat pants and black runners.
Police released a photo of a man captured on video-surveillance footage, in the hopes someone will be able to identify him.
