UPDATE: Senior pedestrian suffers broken leg struck in South Surrey collision

Investigation into incident at 154 Street and 24 Avenue is ongoing, police say

A 65-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a broken leg Thursday (March 12), after she was struck by a vehicle as she walked near Peninsula Village shopping centre in South Surrey.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m., in the area of 154 Street and 24 Avenue. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on the scene and was co-operative with police, according to a news release issued shortly after the incident.

Surrey RCMP Const. Richard Wright said as of Friday morning, no violation tickets had been issued in connection with the collision, but that the investigation is ongoing.

The intersection was closed for a short time while emergency services assisted the senior and police examined the scene.
