Sentencing hearing delayed in child porn case

Douglas Bowers won’t learn his fate for the crime until the new year.

A South Surrey man who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography won’t learn his fate for the crime until the new year.

A sentencing hearing for Douglas Wayne Bowers has been re-scheduled for Jan. 19 in Surrey Provincial Court.

Originally scheduled for Oct. 24, the hearing was delayed after Bowers disputed findings in an expert’s report that identified the illegal downloads as intentional.

Arrested in 2009, Bowers pleaded guilty to the possession charge last December.
