Seven people injured in Surrey crash involving stolen truck

SURREY — Seven people are injured after a four-vehicle crash involving a stolen pick-up truck happened on Scott Road at 98th Avenue early Sunday morning.

A black Ford F350 pick-up was driving northbound in the 9800-block of Scott Road when it went out of control around 12:15 a.m.

Police said the pick-up was attempting to pass a Nissan Altima, but struck the car, went onto the median, crossed over it and then hit a Toyota pick-up truck and a Dodge Caravan, both of which were heading southbound.

The driver of the truck, which was reported stolen just hours earlier in Surrey, ran away.

The three other vehicles involved were all seriously damaged.  The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, the three occupants in the Dodge Caravan, and the three occupants of the Nissan Altima sustained minor injuries, and did not go to hospital.

Speed appears to a contributing factor in this collision, police said.

RCMP are still looking for the driver of the stolen truck.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the driver of the pick-up truck running from the scene to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or to call Crime Stoppers.
