Surrey cop in court for concert incident

SURREY – A Surrey RCMP officer is scheduled to appear in Vancouver provincial court next month, accused of assault in connection with an alleged incident involving security at a PNE concert last September.

Const. Daniel Dallaire was off duty during the incident alleged to have occurred Sept. 15, 2013. He was charged with one count of assault following a Vancouver Police investigation.

Const. Brian Montague, a VPD spokesman, declined to discuss the nature of the allegation, as it’s "now before the courts."

Dallaire will be back in court May 27. A press statement released by Surrey RCMP Chief Supt. Bill Fordy notes that a Code of Conduct investigation is also underway and that Dallaire "remains on operational duties at this time."
