20th Ave Police Incident

SURREY - A heavily armed police Emergency Response Team was called to a South Surrey home early Tuesday afternoon after a man barricaded himself inside.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet said a woman returned home to find her estranged husband's car parked in the garage, and called police. Paquet said the 66-year-old man was not supposed to be there, on account of a no-contact order issued March 22nd.

This was in the 15000-block of 20th Avenue. Paquet said the ERT found him hiding in the attic and talked him down. "He turned himself in," Paquet said. He was held by police overnight to appear in court for breach of recognizance. Names have not been released.
