SURREY — Surrey firefighters are investigating an early morning fire at the Mahek Restaurant and Lounge.

The restaurant, located in the Panorama Village Shopping Centre at 57th Avenue and Panorama Drive, caught fire at about 3 a.m. Thursday.

The cause is "totally undetermined right now," Deputy Fire Chief Dan Barnscher said.

Nobody was injured.

Barnscher said flames were darting through the roof when firefighters arrived.

Five trucks and 22 firefighters were called out.

Barnscher said most of the fire damaged appears to have been confined to the roof but the restaurant also sustained water damage.
