Surrey man charged in violent 2012 sex assault in Newton

Suspect is alleged to have attacked a woman in the 13300-block of 68th Avenue physically and sexually while threatening to kill her.

SURREY — A Surrey man accused of committing a violent sexual assault in Newton in 2012 has been arrested and charged.

Timothy James Wyslouzil, 46, is charged with sexual assault using a weapon, choking and/or suffocating while commiting sexual assault, unlawful confinement, uttering threats and sexual assault causing bodily harm. He is currently being held in custody on these charges.

Police said that on June 2, 2012, Wyslouzil is alleged to have attacked a woman in the 13300-block of 68th Avenue physically and sexually while threatening to kill her.

"The diligence of our officers in their thorough approach to this investigation resulted in a significant arrest that will hopefully improve the victim's peace of mind and the community's safety," Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann said.
