Surrey nominated for Earth Hour award again

SURREY - Surrey is in the running for the title of greenest city for the second year in a row.

One of 34 nominated cities, including the Canadian cities of North Vancouver and Edmonton, Surrey has been nominated in World Wide Fund for Nature's Earth Hour City Challenge. Participation is open globally and judged by an international jury of experts. This year saw participants from 14 countries on five continents that are contending for the title of global Earth Hour Capital 2014.WWF's global Earth Hour City Challenge aims to promote cities that are transitioning toward a more sustainable future. Powered by renewable energy, these cities are in the forefront of greener building solutions.The city that receives the most votes between Jan. 17 and March 20 will be presented with the People's Choice award in Vancouver on March 27.To vote for Surrey, go to www.welovecities.org/surrey/.
