Surrey RCMP investigate Newton stabbing

NEWTON — A 30-year-old man managed to call 911 for help before passing out from blood loss after he was stabbed in a yard in Newton early Saturday night.

The Surrey RCMP found the victim alone outside the front of a residence near 132 Street and 70B Avenue, at 2:45 a.m. He was taken to hospital for surgery and is expected to recover, Cpl. Scotty Schumann said.

Police have yet to identify suspects or a motive.

“Detectives are out in the neighbourhood trying to identify any witnesses,” Schumann said.
