Surrey woman, 20, dies after being struck by semi in Whalley

WHALLEY — A woman who was struck by a 18-wheeler on Tuesday night has passed away.

The 20-year-old Surreyite was hit at King George Boulevard and 104th Avenue around 8:30 p.m. She was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, but died of her injuries.

RCMP said another motorist who witnessed the accident flagged down the 45-year-old driver, who was unaware he had hit anybody. He stayed at the scene and has been co-operating with police.

The investigation is ongoing and cops have yet to determine who was at fault or if alcohol or speed were factors.
