A Surrey woman who pleaded guilty to multiple counts of identity theft has been sentenced to two years less a day for the crimes.
The penalty was handed to Laura Marie Kozinoski on Wednesday (Feb. 20) in Vancouver Provincial Court.
White Rock RCMP Const. Janelle Shoihet said Kozinoski, 43, pleaded guilty to incidents that occurred between Dec. 6, 2012 and Jan. 15, 2013, in which eight women had their identities stolen and used for fraudulent purposes.
The spree included an incident Dec. 21 in White Rock, in which the debit card of a woman who works in the city was compromised, and her identity then used to facilitate a car loan.
Similar incidents were reported in Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey.
Kozinoski was arrested in Burnaby on Jan. 15. Shoihet connected the arrest to the White Rock file through a phone number that linked to an alias of a woman known by police.
In addition to the jail term, Kozinoski was given three years probation.
