Police are warning of traffic delays and congestion in Vancouver, as annual 4/20 celebrations take place at Sunset Beach and around the Vancouver Art Gallery throughout the day.

Thursday is marijuana culture’s ‘high’ holiday, and the event in Sunset Beach is ecxpected to attract well into the thousands.

Vancouver police say they are anticipating large crowds to gather, and traffic will likely be disrupted on Beach Avenue between Burrard and Broughton Street for most of the day.

Police, fire, City of Vancouver, Park Board and BC Ambulance Service staff will be on hand to monitor the event.

More to come.
