TransLink says crews are still working to repair a track issue on the SkyBridge that has led to no SkyTrain service between Scott Road and Columbia stations.

TransLink first notified the public and media about the “track issue” on the SkyBridge just before midnight on Monday (May 30).

“Crews have identified a failed switch as the cause of the track issue,” notes another update Tuesday. “This has led to a SkyTrain being partially dislodged from the tracks.”

“Crews have been working overnight and through the morning to lift the train back onto the tracks and repair the switch. The safety of our staff is a top priority, which is why it was crucial to continue this work with daylight. They are working hard to resolve the issue in order to resume regular service.”

TransLink notes “safety protocols were immediately initiated, and the passengers were safely removed from the train within 10 minutes.”

Extra bus service has been put in place between Scott Road and Columbia stations and staff are at both stations to help.

“Customers travelling from Surrey will have to transfer to bus service at Scott Road Station to continue their journey,” the release states. “Customers travelling to Surrey will have to transfer to bus service at Columbia Station to continue their journey.

“If you’re commuting to or from Surrey, please build extra time into your commute while our crews work to resolve the track issue.”

Extra staff will be on hand at the two affected stations to assist, and service on the Millennium Line, Canada Line and the Production Way segment of the Expo Line are unaffected, the release adds.
