Hazelmere crash scene shortly after noon Tuesday.

Four people were taken to hospital – one with critical injuries – after a two-vehicle T-bone crash at 8 Avenue and 184 Street in South Surrey Tuesday.

Two air ambulances were dispatched to the scene, after a courier van travelling east on 8 Avenue and a Toyota Corolla travelling south on 184 Street collided around 11:10 a.m.

The van sustained extensive front-end damage; both vehicles came to a rest in a ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Three occupants of the Toyota – described as men in their mid- to late 20s – and the driver of the van were taken to hospital.

Police at the scene said cause of the crash is under investigation. After the Toyota was pulled out by a tow truck, officers could be seen examining the grassy area where the vehicles had come to rest.

Eighth Avenue was closed in both directions while emergency crews investigated and cleared the scene. Traffic along 184 Street was also diverted.
