The plane lost power shortly before noon after taking off from King George Aviation, an ultralight airstrip near Colebrook Road.

The pilot and lone occupant, who escaped from the plane on his own before making it to a trail to be picked up, suffered from scratches and a had minor head laceration.

The plane, located in an isolated area near the Serpentine River, was difficult for fire crews to reach for recovery and to control a fuel leak.
