SURREY — Police have arrested a robbery suspect  in connection with two people being bear-sprayed and one of the victims, a woman, being carjacked  in Guildford last Wednesday night.

The Surrey RCMP is recommending charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, driving while prohibited and perhaps further charges against a  20-year-old man from Vancouver. His name has not been released.

Police said a robber confronted another man who had just arrived home, near 108th Avenue and 150th Street, and demanded his keys. The victim refused, and the robber bear-sprayed him.

“Bear-sprayed him and leaves,” Cpl. Bert Paquet said.

A few minutes later, a woman was robbed of her car after being bear-sprayed.

“We assume it’s the same male,” Paquet said.

The car was parked outside the Guildford Gardens apartments, at 10567-150th St.
