UPDATE: Man murdered in Newton Friday

Suspect arrested at Vancouver International Airport

Surrey RCMP comb an area in Newton for a suspect in a shooting on Friday afternoon.

Police have made an arrest following a fatal shooting Friday afternoon in Newton.

Just after 4 p.m., witnesses say police descended on a quiet neighbourhood near Janice Churchill Elementary, at 8226 146 Street.

Surrey RCMP confirmed that there was a shooting and they were  looking for a gunman. Later that night, 56-year-old Hong Manh Nguyen was arrested at Vancouver International Airport.

Witnesses at the scene said they believed it was a domestic shooting and that a male inside a home in the area was dead.

Several streets in the area were shut down, and it was believed Nguyen fled the scene in a green 2000 Honda Oddysey van.
