UPDATED: The Wildlife Rescue Association said Tuesday the goose was euthanized Sunday after its wound became infected.

A Canada goose is recovering after it was caught it a trap at the Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey on Thursday, a wildlife protection group says.

The goose was slumped on the ground and bleeding heavily when staff from the Wildlife Rescue Association arrived. It could not fly because of the lacerations to its legs.

"We don’t have any details of who set the trap," the association said in an email, "but we believe it was set to catch a beaver which had a den nearby."

The animal is being kept in an indoor pool while it heals.
