UPDATED: Surrey RCMP cruiser, another car destroyed in Surrey crash

Both drivers were taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life threatening.

An RCMP cruiser and another car were demolished in a traffic collision in Surrey early Friday morning.

SURREY — A Surrey RCMP cruiser and another car were demolished in a traffic collision in Surrey early Friday morning.

Both drivers were taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life threatening. The crash happened shortly after 6 a.m., at 148th Street and 90th Avenue.

The roads were icy and the Mountie was responding to a robbery call in the area when the crash happened.

Local roads were closed as police investigated at the scene of the crash.

"The impact of the collision resulted in the civilian car ending up on the lawn of a nearby residence," Surrey RCMP Sergeant Alanna Dunlop said. "The investigation is in its early stages and investigators are currently working to determine what caused the collision."
