VANCOUVER — Vancouver’s fifth homicide victim of the year is Surrey resident Thi Yen Le, 33.

A caretaker at Stanley Park found Le in medical distress near Brockton Oval, at about 6 a.m. Thursday. Paramedics tried to save her but she died at the scene.

Police aren’t saying how she was killed but believe she was targeted. They said Le was “known to police,” but have not revealed how.

“This isn’t a case of someone in the park being randomly attacked,” said Const. Brian Montague, of Vancouver Police. "She has not been convicted of any criminal offences and does not have a record. Unfortunately I can't provide any details of the victim's background regarding the nature of previous police contacts."

Meantime, police have found  Le's car, a 2003 champagne coloured four-door Nissan Altima, license plate number 903 TXS. The car has tinted windows and black wheels. They had been looking for it after she was killed.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Vancouver Police Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
