CLOVERDALE — Two students are expected to be fine after a blue Chevy Ventura smashed into their classroom at George Greenaway elementary school early Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a 71-year-old woman was dropping her three-year-old grandson off for preschool at 12:30 p.m. when her foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal. The impact pushed a desk on the other side of the wall and rattled the classroom. Paramedics took two boys, ages 11 and 12, to hospital with minor injuries and they were released later Wednesday.

"As for the classes affected, we had two classes moved to library to resume there for the afternoon while this gets cleaned up and we’re attempting to get back to normal as we can," said Surrey school district spokesman Doug Strachan.

The crash is still under investigation.
