SURREY — A Vancouver Police officer charged with sex crimes will be back in Surrey provincial court on Jan. 24.

Detective Constable James Albert Stanley Fisher was working with the VPD’s Counter Exploitation Unit at the time the offences are alleged to have occurred. He was released on bail Thursday morning.

Fisher has been charged with three counts of sexual exploitation against an alleged victim, from August to December 2015; one count of breach of trust for allegedly sexually touching a witness in a criminal prosecution, from August to December 2015; one count of sexual assault in December 2015 and one count of obstructing justice by providing false or misleading information to a Burnaby Mountie this past November.

Vancouver Police Chief Constable Adam Palmer told reporters at a press conference in Vancouver on Thursday afternoon that an investigation into the six alleged crimes began in March.

“He has been suspended from duty as a result of this investigation,” Palmer said of Fisher, who was arrested Wednesday.
