Police descended on a North Surrey home earlier this week to arrest a man wanted on several charges.
At 4 p.m. Monday, Surrey RCMP's High Risk Target Team, along with an emergency response team and robbery unit, surrounded a home in the 12500 block of 96A Avenue.
They were looking for Stephen Cooper, 33, who was wanted for several breaches.
Police sent out a release in December looking for information about Cooper, who at the time was facing 18 robbery-related charges.
Police say the large show of force was necessary because police safety was a concern.
"When that's the case, that's the kind of response you get," said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann. "He tried to flee even when we were there, but he was unsuccessful."
