METRO VANCOUVER - White Rock realtor Sarah Daniels is offering $5,000 of her own cash to anyone who returns the dogs stolen from a truck in Langley on Tuesday.
The former Global TV weather person posted the offer for the safe return of all six dogs on social media websites, saying “Let’s get this done.†Daniels said she loves dogs and has four of her own at home.
She said her heart goes out to the owners of the missing pets.
“I would be devastated if this happened to my dogs,†she said. “The worst part is not knowing what happened to them.†While she’s skeptical someone will come forward and claim the money, she hoped that by posting a reward on Twitter and Facebook, she could heighten awareness about the stolen pooches.
“I just really hope they are found safe,†she said.
Meantime, owners of the stolen dogs have planned a rally tonight at 6 p.m. at the Langley park near where the dogs went missing. The rally, held at Brookswood dog park, located at 206th St and 44 A Avenue in Langley, is a bid to increase awareness in hope they’ll be found, according to a post on petsearcherscanada.com, a website where users can post photos of their lost pets.
Langley RCMP Const. Holly Marks said a dog walker had left the dogs in the back of a pickup truck with a canopy near the park so she could use the washroom.
When she returned 10 minutes later, Marks said the canopy had been unlatched and all six dogs were gone. She said the woman searched the area for hours but couldn’t find them.
The missing dogs are: Mia; Teemo, a grey Bouvier-poodle cross; Buddy, a black and white Boston terrier; Oscar, a black and brown Rottweiler-husky cross; Salty, a border collie; and Molly, a grey and black blue heeler-shepherd cross.
Marks said late Thursday that investigators have no idea who might have stolen the dogs, adding that there’s no indication the dog walker might have been targeted.
