A man was airlifted to hospital in Tuesday afternoon after suffering injuries in a fall at a White Rock work site, police say.

The incident occurred at a residential construction site in the 1500-block of Johnston Road, according to WorkSafeBC government and media relations officer Erica Simpson.

“We were called yesterday at 4:01, about an incident at 1570 Johnston Rd.,” Simpson told Peace Arch News Wednesday.

“A worker was injured. It was a fall from height.”

Simpson could not provide details on the worker or his injuries, citing privacy, however, a tweet issued by White Rock RCMP just before 5 p.m. Tuesday described his condition as “stable” at that time.

Const. Chantal Sears told PAN Wednesday that the worker, a 56-year-old Surrey resident, fell from a ladder.

He was “conscious and communicating” with first responders at the scene, and was released from hospital later that evening.

Simpson said WorkSafe is doing an inspection as a result of the incident, not an investigation.

“It was deemed that that’s not required at this time,” she said, noting investigations are typically prompted by incidents that result in serious or fatal injuries.
