MERVIN: Alice Gertrude born January 7, 1913 and passed away December 19, 2005 after a brave battle with cancer. Alice was predeceased by her husband Rudy, son Allan and grandson Gordon. Our amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother will be sadly missed by her daughter Marlene (Ken) Goeres, son Ken (Gloria) Mervin, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, family and friends. Alice was born in Mannville, Alberta, married Rudy in Vermillion, Alberta in 1936 and moved to Vancouver in 1938. Always hardworking and determined, they built the Inner City Motel in Burnaby while lovingly raising 3 children. Alice enjoyed life, travelling the world, airstreaming to Mexico, painting her masterpieces and partying with family and friends. Alice always kept the family connected with all her letters sent around the world. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful personal caregivers who aided Alice, with a special thank you to Gina. Visitation will be held at the Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, 13288-108 Ave., Surrey on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 10460-139 Street, Surrey on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow in the church hall. Entombment will follow the reception at Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice's memory to the Canadian Breast and Lung Cancer Society.
