December 26, 1926 - December 3, 2019
Pearl passed quietly Tuesday December 3rd with her family by her side.
Pearl was born in Picture Butte Alberta. The youngest of five children. Predeceased by her husband Mark Hurd in 1977. She is survived by her four children, Lorine van Voorst, Lamont Hurd, Shelley Jones and Allan Hurd, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Pearl graduated high school in Picture Butte and went on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from the Galt Hospital School of Nursing. At a time when student nurses were not allowed to be married, she was the first to be a married graduate.
Pearl continued her career as an RN after moving to Surrey BC in 1970, retiring from Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock BC in 1981.
Pearl loved to travel whether it was Australia, Europe, Finland or cruises with her daughter Lorine. She was a very social person always willing to participate, enjoying every holiday or family event or events at the clubhouse at Chelsea Gardens in Newton. She remained quick with a joke or broke into spontaneous song when reminder of one during conversation.
Pearl was the heart of the family. She was admired for her strength, determination and compassion. One who never judged or held a grudge, was true to herself and all she met. She will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
