Carla Louise Emanuels, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her family home in North Surrey. Carla was born on November 26, 1925 in Bandoeng, Java, Indonesia. Left to honour Carla and remember her in love are Carla's five children; Ingrid Emanuels (Frank Marasa), Ted (Bonnie) Emanuels, Rob (Wendy) Emanuels, Karen (Doug) Maynard, Roger (Gail) Emanuels, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Carla spent her teenage years in a Japanese concentration camp in Indonesia during the Second World War. After the war her family returned to Holland where she finished her schooling before emigrating to Canada, living briefly in Edmonton and Montreal before the family settled in North Surrey in 1955.
Carla loved her dogs and the family home included many boxers and a boston terrier, who were her constant companions after children grew up and left home.
Mass Intentions will be given for Carla at Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on September 27, 2018 at 7:30 am.
A private family remembrance will be held in the future with inurnment at the Gardens of Gethsemani. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made in Carla's remembrance to the charity of your choice.
