DAFOE

Catherine Marie

Catherine Marie Dafoe, a long-time resident of Surrey, B.C, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2016 in Surrey Memorial Hospital. Despite her almost 91 years she remained healthy, happy, active, and an ever-engaging conversationalist.

Born on April 10, 1925 in Owen Sound, ON Marie (nee McKerroll) was part of a close-knit and loving family. She later enlisted in the RCAF-WD to serve her country during WWII, and was stationed at the base near Dafoe, Saskatchewan. It was there that Marie met and in 1946 married Sidney Dafoe also of the RCAF, and in so doing began the journey of true soulmates through a wonderful 65-year marriage. Marie was an inspirational mother to Ken, Dianne, Jack and Don and a caring, loving in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother to many. Marie was employed in several differing finance and administrative roles over the years but her true calling was family and friends. Those fortunate enough to know Marie knew a very caring, passionate woman who always brought out the best in people and, by her example, encouraged us all to be better, kinder human beings.

Marie is survived by her sister Jessie but sadly was predeceased by her three brothers Jack, Don and Bob, and in 2011, by her beloved Sidney. We should all take comfort in knowing that she can now rejoin her mate and resume the travels that they both enjoyed so very much. Marie requested that there be no service nor flowers.
