With great sadness the family of Dr. Mairi Narod announce her death.
She is survived by daughter Fiona (Graham Simms), sons David (Samantha) and Ian, grandchildren Duncan and Alasdair (Petra) Simms, Nicholas and Emma Narod, and Shivana Codling-Narod.
She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Philip Narod, and sister Dr. Dunella Pedersen (Maclean).
She was born in Rangoon, Burma, but returned to Scotland at age one where she spent her childhood. After the war she came to Canada, attended McGill University and graduated Medicine in 1954.
After graduation she moved to Vancouver, found work in the Queen Charlotte Islands, and convinced her "boyfriend" to fill the other vacant position. She and Philip married in Queen Charlotte City in 1957. They settled into private practice in White Rock for the next 40 years. Mairi continued to take on shifts in the drop-in clinic till age 83.
Mairi's main passion, other than her work, was music. Over her life she learned many instruments: piano, accordion, singing, trombone, and guitar. She continued to take guitar lessons and perform into her nineties.
