HOFFMAN, Elmer Emil
December 29, 1937 - December 20, 2014
Elmer passed away peacefully in Palliative Care at the Jim Pattison Tower, VGH. He was born at Spalding, SK and moved to BC in 1955. He worked as a mechanic for Dueck on Broadway and later as a member of IUOE #115, he operated a crane truck for Great West Steel and Canron, working on projects such as Canada Place sails, Chan Centre and the J.P. Tower. He retired in 1997 and began his business "Saw 'n Sand", making many toys and beautiful intarsia wall plaques. Failing eyesight forced him to give this up, as well as fishing, but he still enjoyed tending to his garden and growing tall sunflowers. Survived by his loving family, wife of 55 years, Dorothy; children Janet Bury, (Dave), Daryl and Brent (Lisa); grandchildren Justin & Jillian Bury, Kevin, Michael & Ashley Hoffman, Liam Hoffman, Arianne & Stevie Wulfhorst; sister Dorothy Kilpatrick (Lyle). Predeceased by his parents Alvin & Edna Hoffman. Our sincere thanks to the Doctors & Staff of VGH for their compassionate care. Donations to VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation or charity of choice. No service by Elmer's request. A family gathering will be held in 2015. Condolences may be sent by visiting
