INGRAM, George (Gerry) Eric

April 3, 1912 - March 24, 2008

After a wonderful adventurous life of 95 years, we are sad to announce the passing of our beloved father, and grandfather, George (Gerry) Ingram. He will be sadly missed by his loving daughter Barbara Ellen, son-in-law, Gordon and grandsons, Jeremy and Rory.

George was born in Quetta, Pakistan in 1912 where he lived with his family until the war started in 1939. During the war he served as a British newsreel photographer and was awarded the Most Exalted Member of the British Empire (MBE) for outstanding service. In 1951, George immigrated to Sydney, Australia where he married Heather Aimee Treloar and lived a full and happy life until 1989, when after the passing of his wife; he joined his daughter and her family in Cloverdale, B.C., Canada. During his life in Canada, he created wonderful relationships, loved his family, built a log cabin and enjoyed his gardens at his country cottage next door to his daughter's home.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the firemen and ambulance /paramedic personnel who attended to George at his home, and to the staff of Surrey Memorial Hospital Emergency Room for their compassionate help.

George (affectionately known as Boppi to his grandchildren) passed away peacefully on March 24, 2008. A Celebration of his life will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 20955 Old Yale Rd., Langley, B.C. on Saturday, April 5 at 1 pm. Any and all who have been touched by George's generous spirit are welcome to come by to share their memories of his life at Barbi and Gordon's home after the service.
