Gertie, as in her life, exemplified strength, independence, determination, and most certainly the love and care for others into her final days. She passed peacefully at the Laurel Place Hospice in Surrey BC, received by her Lord and Saviour Jesus.
In 1965, Gertie and her husband Louis Little, packed up their belongings, moving their young family across Canada in search of a better life.
After many years throughout the Okanagan areas, they eventually settled in Surrey BC.
Gertie's passion for her family, determination and fierce work ethic, led her to be skilled in many things, office bookkeeper, love of children and foster care, home support healthcare worker, and eventual retirement where her gardens and ornamentation were shared for everyone to enjoy.
Gertrude Evelyn Prince was predeceased by her husband Louis Little and Patrick Prince, her parents Harold and Mary Bathgate, her siblings Edward, Leonard, and Calvin, and two grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by all, and dearly missed by her sister Myrtle McTavish, her children Ricky(Holly), Ginger, Derrick, Haven, and Teresa, along with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, foster children, friends and neighbors.
Gertie's wish was for a simple cremation followed by a family gathering to celebrate her love for all.
