BRUSCHETTO, Hendrikus (Harry).


Born May 15, 1919 in Haarlem, The Netherlands died peacefully June 23, 2005 in Surrey. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Corry, his wife of 64 years, in 2002. Harry will be sadly missed by his daughters; Rita de Raadt (Nick) of Surrey, Carla Oliver (John) of White Rock and four sons: Joe (Carol) of Bellingham, Wash; Rudy (Percy) of Edmonton; Nino (Anna) of Surrey and Benny. And also by his brother Theo and family in Ontario and many nieces and nephews. He was Opa to 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. Harry immigrated with his wife and six children to Canada in 1957 and established himself in White Rock and Surrey. Harry and Corry traveled extensively in North America and Europe. Harry served in the Dutch Underground during WWII to resist the German occupation of The Netherlands and collaborated with the Allied Forces during the Liberation. Before his retirement as a millwright, Harry's last employer of many years was Weldwood of Canada, Flavelle Cedar Division. He was a member of the International Wood Workers and the United Steel Workers Union. A celebration of Harry's life will be held at a graveside service on Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 at Valley View Memorial Gardens at 1:00 pm.
