GRANGER, Hilda

Born April 20, 1915 in Moline, Manitoba, passed away May 21, 2009 at Hilton Villa Care Home in Surrey. Survived by brother Ross Granger of Burnaby, niece Margaret Rycroft (Bob Robinson) of Onanole, Man.), and nephews Don Rycroft of Stratford, Ont., Grant Granger of Burnaby, Owen Granger (Gordon Rowe) of Vancouver, Ian Granger (Rosamond) of Fort McMurray, Alta., and Clive Granger (Cheryl) of Williams Lake; and much-loved grand nephews Ben, Jake, Chad, Bryce, Brodie, Daniel and Matthew. Pre-deceased by sister Ruth Rycroft, brother-in-law Bud Rycroft and sister-in-law Hildegard Granger. “Miss Granger” taught school for 42 years, the first 15 in Manitoba before she moved to Surrey in 1948. She is best remembered as a teacher-librarian at Princess Margaret High School and Cloverdale Junior Secondary. She retired in 1975 and volunteered for the Girl Guides and Meals on Wheels. Hilda’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at St. Helen’s Anglican Church, (where she faithfully attended for many years and served on the Altar Guild) 10787 128 St. Surrey, on Saturday, May 30, 10:30 a.m. Her ashes will be buried in the cemetery at St. Helen’s. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Helen’s, Save the Children or the Canadian Cancer Society.
