Irene Agnes McDonald

Born January 2, 1925 in Springside, Sask; passed away on November 12, 2008 at Langley Hosp - Rosewood ECU. Irene arrived on the coast in the early 40's and by the 50's was happily raisinig goats & rabbits with her beloved husband ''Bob'' on an acreage at 10539 - 150 St. in Surrey, near the site of the present Guildford Mall. The operation was expanded when relocated to 7581 208 St. on Willoughby Hill as ''The Alpine Meadows Herd of French Alpine Dairy Goats'' and soon became well recognized as the principal ''Alpine Breeder'' in the Pacific Northwest.

Her stock won virtually all available championships at the PNE in all the 60's culuminating in ''Premier Breeder'' and ''Premier Exhibitor'' in 1970 upon which she gracefully retired from showing & competition. During those years she helped save many allergic babies lives by supplying high quality raw goats milk and was on the Christmas card list of many grateful recepients for many years.

Irene simply loved all animals and cared extremely for their well being and comfort. It is her fine Epitaph. Predeceased by husband Bob & siblings Martha, Edward, Gustave, Alfred, and Allan. She leaves to mourn sisters Louella (Richards) and Lillian (McPherson) of the Valley; Eileen & Marlene of Sask., and many nephews & neices. A memorial tribute will be held at First Memorial, corner 148 St. & Fraser Hwy, Surrey, 2:00pm Sat Dec 6th. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
