CHIDLOW, John

October 6, 1923 - February 17, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Chidlow. He is remembered fondly by his wife, Marga, his children, Mardon (Donna) and Shelley (Scott), and his granddaughters, Amanda and Veronica.

John passed peacefully on 17 February, 2017 after living a long and fulfilling life. John was born in Chilliwack on 6 October, 1923 and grew up there. He was an avid and formidable golfer. His positive & kind attitude was demonstrated both on and off the course and he was liked by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. As a husband and father he was generous, selfless, and caring. His sense of humour is what many will remember him by. He embodied the notion of a grandfather for his granddaughters; he was always there to make them laugh, tell a story, or give advice. In addition to the love he showed the people in his life, he cared deeply for animals and was happiest with a dog by his side. Working as an accountant for many years he helped countless people take control of their lives and was respected as a professional. His devotion to others was exemplified during his time serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. He was no stranger to adventure and he and his wife travelled across Canada twice in their motorhome. A service will be held on Saturday, 11 March at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 10167 148 St, Surrey, BC at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local SPCA.
