WATT, John William

Born April 25/1949, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord Jesus on Jan 26 at 11:10am surrounded by his wife and four children. He is survived by his wife Elsa of 38 years, daughters and son-in-laws Nina Watt and Vince Dimanno, Alaine Watt and Ian Marsh, Roberta Watt and Brent Marriott and Tricia and Mark Griffioen. His is also survived by six grandchildren, Reid. Robin, Ethan, Isabella, Cole, and Oliver as well as parents Jim and Margaret Watt and sisters Margaret, Judy, Diane and Kathy and brother Jim. John is predeceased by brother Ken and sister Barbara. John was loved by many friends and coworkers. John spent over 30 years of service to the City of Surrey as a firefighter and ended his career as Deputy Fire Chief. He received numerous awards and much recognition for his contributions to the community he served. A big part of his life was being very active in his church, taking leadership roles and serving his Lord Jesus. John liked to spend his free time with family, camping, fishing and hiking as well as time in interests with airplanes, classical music and one day building a home on Vancouver Island. A line-of-duty funeral and memorial service will be held on Saturday Feb 3, 1pm at Guildford Church of the Nazarene. The address is 9012 - 160 St. Surrey. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society
