Mr. Ken Fisher passed away unexpectedly at home at the age of 83.

He follows his beloved wife, Joyce (Anderson) who passed 4 months earlier. Theirs was a 57 year love story.

Ken was born in Lebret, SK, the son of Raymond A. Fisher and Caroline A. LaRocque. He was best known for his courage to take the bull by the horns and stand up for what he believed in. One of Ken's passions was photography. He and Joyce operated Fisher Photo Studio in Surrey for 28 years.

Ken will be remembered for the many years of unwavering service to the Metis community. Among many other posts, he was president of the Nova Metis Heritage Association, a founding member of the BC Metis Federation and the dynamic, compelling and loyal host of the Metis Matters Radio Show for over 20 years. The loss of both Ken and Joyce is a huge source of grief in that community and beyond.

Ken will be sadly missed by his brother Charles V. Fisher, South Bend IN and sister Olivia Crockett, Toronto ON, half sisters, Rae, Jennifer, Rita (UK), in-laws, Sharon, Roy Trotchie, Biggar SK, Stan Mountstephen, Raymore SK, Judy Pacquette, Rosetown SK. Paul Revelle, good friend of 48 years, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ken and Joyce had a son, Kenneth Robert born December 12, 1959 died shortly after of SIDS.

Ken was also predeceased by siblings: Raymond J. Fisher, Dorean R. Rubeniuk (Adam), Robert A. Fisher (Elaine), Maurice W. Fisher (Faye), Winnie Fisher, sister-in-law Carole Mountstephen, brother-in-law Bradley Anderson.

BC Metis Federation volunteers have organized a Celebration of Life for Ken Fisher which will be held Jan. 20th, 2018 at Shannon Hall in Surrey BC from 1 to 5 pm.
