JALBERT: Leo (Lionel) W.

December 23, 1938 - March 1, 2008

After a courageous battle with cancer, Leo passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed by Shirley, his loving wife of 37 years, much loved children Dayna (Carol), Kristine (Tracy), and Barrie (Rebecca), cherished grandchildren Mikaela, Elijah and Talya, loving mother Juliette and step-father Robert, brother Rudy (Dorothea) and sisters Julie (Tony) and Yvonne, sisters in law Doreen (Claude), Maureen (Ted) and Dorothy, several nieces and nephews and good friend Jorn. Leo's working career spanned jobs such as a White Spot car hop, Commercial Fisherman and Sprinkler Pipe Fitter from UA Local 170. In the early 60's bcause of his academic abilities, he was chosen as a participant for the TV show "Reach for the Top". He made his family proud. He was an avid camper throughout his children's growing years and now with his beloved grandchildren. He loved to cook deserts especially apple, lemon and pumpkin pies and Texas brownies (much to his families delight)! He was a voracious reader of science fiction novels and a huge history buff. He was fiercely competitive in Rummikub. The family would like to Thank Dr. Yuen, Dr. Minhas, nurses and care aides from the Shirley Dean Hospice Pavilion in Surrey for their compassion and care of Leo.

A celebration of Leo's life will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 2 pm at the Firehall Centre for the Arts at 11489 84th Avenue, North Delta.
