VOGT, Lorence

Lorence Vogt, went to be with the Lord at the age of 82 in the Abbotsford Hospital on January 5, 2017.

Lorence was born to Peter and Olga Vogt 10 miles southwest of Nipawin, Saskatchewan on December 17, 1934. He married Kathrine Esau in Chilliwack, BC on December 19, 1964. Early in his life, Lorence attended Bible School in Abbotsford and worked labour jobs. He then got into sales which led to him to running his own business. In order to work closer to home, he sold his business and began working for Simmons Mattresses, where he worked until he retired in 2000. Lorence was an enthusiastic, fun-loving, friendly person. His faith in Christ was demonstrated by his sincerity and his passion to welcome, encourage and support people. Lorence was active in Church ministries such as youth, Sunday School, Brigades and choir. He had hobbies such as fishing, gardening, camping and golf and he enjoyed playing games such as cards, ping pong and billiards. After retiring Lorence volunteered at MCC for the rest of his years. He also liked to use email and skype to keep in touch with family and friends.


Lorence is missed by his wife Kathy, his sons Richard and Dennis, his granddaughters Ashley and Sarah, Richard's partner Ellie and Dennis' wife Michelle. Lorence is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Adel and Bill Horwood, Arnold and Carol Vogt, and Pearl Vogt. Also left to mourn are his many nephews and nieces, his relations in Kathy's family and the friends he made throughout his life. Lorence is predeceased by his sister Elsie and her husband Victor Fehr, his sister Kay and her husband Abe Harder and his brother Ewalt Vogt.


There will be a Celebration of Life service for anyone who wants to come in Abbotsford at the Heritage Alliance Church on Tuesday, January 17 at 1:00 pm.
