Margaret PRIMROSE

April 27, 2005

PRIMROSE - Margaret Verna (nee Francis).

Born May 31, 1922. Passed away peacefully on April 27, 2005 at Peace Arch Hospital. Predeceased in 1979 by her devoted husband Neil. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by son David (Joyce); daughters Peggy (Bob), Katherine and Ann; grandchildren David, Doug, Tanya, Paul, Steven, Andrea, Jessica, Neil, Matthew, Dan and Jennifer; five great-grandchildren and many dear friends.

Raised in Vancouver and a resident of White Rock for 58 years, Margaret was very involved in the community. She and Neil were founding members of the White Rock Players, performing in numerous productions and serving on the executive for many years. Margie was also active designing and sewing costumes for the theatre. She loved music, and over the years sang with the Maple Leaf Singers, First United Church Choir, White Rock Singers, and St. John's Presbyterian Church Choir.

Margaret had extraordinary knowledge of botany and gardening, and achieved Master Gardener certification when in her seventies. She volunteered her time with several gardening clinics, and was an active member and librarian for the South Surrey Garden Club. She inspired family, friends and neighbours with her beautiful gardens at home.

She had a passion for learning that continued throughout her life. She was trained as a teacher, and after raising her family, opened Tall Trees Kindergarten in her home. Margaret also taught early childhood education at Douglas College. An avid reader, she loved historical writing and lengthy novels. She learned computer skills and continued to take Latin classes until her final days.

Margaret was kind and loving. She cherished the company of her friends and family, with whom she enjoyed holidays, sing-a-longs and walks in the woods.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, May 2 at 1:00 pm, at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 1480 George Street in White Rock. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Margaret's memory to The Land Conservancy of B.C., 5655 Sperling Avenue, Burnaby, B.C., V5E 2T2.
