It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nora Squires at the age of 88. Nora passed away peacefully at Chilliwack General Hospital surrounded by her family.

She leaves behind her children, Elizabeth, Beverley and Lester along with 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Nora was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry and great grandson Everly. She was born in Leicester City, England, and immigrated to Canada with her husband Harry and three small children in 1958.

Nora lived a very active life and was a strong member of both her community and church. In her early years, she was involved in the Boy Scout movement as a cub master as well as dog shows with her Golden Retriever kennel. She was secretary of the Langley Barbershop Association, president of her Strata, and a volunteer at her church and Chilliwack hospice.

Nora worked as a secretary for the Surrey School District for many years. She loved to RV with Harry, travelling extensively in both Canada and the United States to many barbershop competitions, as well as visiting many ports around the world while cruising. She loved jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and was an avid knitter.

Nora always spoke her mind and had a keen sense of humour which always left everyone laughing. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. The family would like to thank the nursing staff in the emergency department at Chilliwack General Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 3:30 pm at Chilliwack United Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
