EDWARDS - Pearl Evelyn (nee Griffin)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Pearl Edwards in Surrey on March 18th, 2006. Pearl was in her 84th year and was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Eric (Alberta Slim) Edwards in November, 2005. Pearl is survived by daughter Betty-Lou (Glenn Angus), son Carey (Gabriela Fodor), and grandsons Justin and Chad Edwards and Ian Angus.

Pearl was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan, the sixth of seven children of Jake and Amy Griffin. She was the last surviving member of this close-knit prairie family. Pearl moved to Regina in the late '30's where she met her future husband, and they were married in 1943. They then set out on an adventurous life that included operating a traveling circus for 17 years and owning a motel in Surrey, before building and managing a mortgage brokerage business for almost 40 years.

A mother and grandmother extraordinaire, she was held in high regard by her extended family throughout North America. Pearl was admired for her intelligence, creativity, beauty, sharp wit and capacity for hard work.

A celebration of Pearl's life will take place on Sunday, April 9th at 2pm in the Grandview Room at Coyote Creek (Eaglequest) Golf Club, 7778 152nd Street in Surrey. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to kindly consider support for the Centre for Child Development, 9460 - 140th Street, Surrey, B.C., V3V 5Z4, one of Pearl's favourite causes.
