Nicholson, Rosemary

May 7, 1925 - December 11, 2006

In loving memory of Mum who passed away suddenly but peacefully at the age of 81 at home. Born Mary Margaret Saunders in Murree, India where her father was stationed with the British military and raised in England, Mum joined her sisters and brother by enlisting in the army at age 17 and served her country as a Motor Transport Driver during WWII. While in the service she met and married Canadian serviceman John (Jack) S. Nicholson and immigrated to Canada as a War Bride in 1948, raising her family in the Newton area of Surrey. Mum was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #175 where she and Jack made many friends, shared memories, danced and sang the old War favourites especially on November 11. She was a past director of the Newton HandiDart where she worked until her retirement.

Rosemary moved from Newton to White Rock in 1986 and made new friends at Sandringham Estates during the Monday Bridge Club. The Lawn Bowling gang and the bridge players at the Seniors Centre were very important to her and she always looked forward to being with her many friends.

Predeceased by husband Jack in 1983, she is survived by her children; John, Bruce and Gay Ellen; grandchildren; Tanya, Aaron, Chelsea, Daniel, John and Joe and 5 great grandchildren, Tomiko, Sachiko, Devon, Micah and Jalen.

Please join us for a celebration of her life on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Victory Memorial Park 14831 28 Avenue in South Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, a cause she avidly supported, would be greatly appreciated.
