Sharon, 63, passed away on Sunday March 25, 2018 at Laurel Place Hospice in Surrey, BC where she spent her final days surrounded by friends and family.
Sharon was born in Creston, BC on November 1, 1954 to Brian and Claire Johnston. In her childhood the family moved around British Columbia following her father's career as an educator. For her last year of school they moved to Trail, BC and while living there she met her future husband Lane. They lived in Vernon, BC for several years and before moving to Surrey.
Sharon dedicated her life to the care and well being of others. She was known as a thoughtful and nurturing person always ready to support friends and family in good times and bad. She had a long career in early childhood education and development, and specialized in helping children with special needs find the services and infrastructure they needed to thrive. As a lifetime member of the Cloverdale Curling Club she was an active volunteer, coach and engaged member of the community.
Sharon is survived by her husband Lane, sons Keith and Trevor, granddaughter Mackenzie, siblings David Johnston, Daphne (Simon) Churchill and Gordon (Tracy) Johnston, and step-mother Lynne Johnston.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held on Saturday April 7th at 2:00 pm at Johnson Heights Church, 9612 152 Street, Surrey.
