Barry, Sylvia Estelle (nee Matwick)
November 6, 1935 – January 8, 2016
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by the love of her life, Walter Barry, her husband of 53 years. Sylvia leaves behind 3 children, Jane-Anne (Gord) Anderson, Lee-Anne (Dale) Baxter and John Barry; 5 grandchildren: Bree-Anna, Heather, Laura, Jenna and Jordan; and 2 great grandchildren: Linden and Mason and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Sylvia passed away suddenly at Surrey Memorial Hospital on January 8, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Agnes Matwick, and 7 siblings. Sylvia founded and operated the Whalley Daycare Centre for 30 years, building a strong connection with the children and the community. It is with great honour and admiration that we remember this kind, generous and loving woman. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 15th 2016 at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Good Council Church located at 10460 139th Street, Surrey BC. In lieu of flowers, please donate generously to the Surrey Food Bank in Sylvia’s name.
