Will Senger

On Oct.27, Heaven has gained another cowboy legend...

After surviving major surgery in July and bravely fighting many health issues since, this fighter has had enough and hung up his cowboy hat for one last time.

Born in Kelowna November 16, 1931, and Raised in Rutland, family moved to North Burnaby just as the W.W.2 had started. At age 16 Will began his Rodeo Career at Burnaby Lake Stables, later going off to try his luck at the Cloverdale Rodeo in Bare Back Riding and eventually Team roping.

Will began as Chairman of the Cloverdale in 1962, at a time when it only seated 1500. This past year the rodeo had more then 21,000 people attending. In 1983, Will received a lifetime membership to the Fraser Valley Exhibition Association for his work in rodeo and was voted Committee Man of the Year by his peers in Professional rodeo in 1986.

In 1992 he received the Governor Generals Medal for dedication to Rodeo and in 2004 he became the first British Columbian to be inducted into the cowboy hall of fame.

Dad had many jobs, he started on the docks in 1961, and worked as a Longshoreman till 1997.

He leaves behind his daughter Lori and son-in-law Andy. His two sons Shawn &Shane. Stacey his daughter in-law, his cherished grand children, Ciarra and Carter.

As well as his brother Dennis and sister in law Sheila in Whitehorse. He was predeceased by brother Norman just this past August.

Special thanks to Dr. Cilliers and all the staff at Langley Hospital, for the exceptional care that each of you gave to our dad.

Dad, May you ride up there where the grass is lush and green and stirrup high, and the water runs cool, clear and deep, and that our final judge has told you that your entry fees are paid.

Amen, Rest in peace friend.

Celebration of Life will be on Nov. 16, at 11am at the Shannon Hall, at the Cloverdale Rodeo Grounds.
