I was reading the Surrey Leader (April 28) and read about the ban on chaining dogs and the ban on leg-hold traps.
No doubt most of us are in full support of treating all animals and all wildlife with love and respect. Cruelty at any time is totally unacceptable.
Furthermore, while listening to the news on TV, I learned that a private bill will be introduced in the House of Commons requesting the prime minister to establish a committee which is to study when a baby becomes human. The prime minister has already declared to vote against this bill.
Our present law states that a baby does not become a human until its natural birth. What a piece of crap.
It is, therefore, okay that we can take a baby out of its mom’s tummy anytime before its birth, let it die, and legally do not do anything wrong.
The prime minister knows this is wrong, our MPs know that this is wrong but most of them will vote against this bill because to be re-elected is more important than being honest with themselves.
When, after nine months, the baby lies in mommy’s arms, we all know that this same baby was a little human all along. It is shameful that we care more about our animals than about our unborn babies. They all need our love and respect.
I am proud to be a Canadian, but let’s be honest with ourselves, admit that a baby is a new little human at conception. If we all would be honest with ourselves as Canadians I would be very proud of being a Canadian.
